Vinyl records and transcribes discussions in the main Zoom room but does not follow participants into breakout rooms. If your meeting includes breakout rooms, Vinyl will remain in the main session and continue recording only the conversations that happen there.

This guide explains what happens when breakout rooms are used, the limitations of Vinyl’s recording in this setup, and possible workarounds.

What Happens When Breakout Rooms Are Used?

When a host enables breakout rooms in Zoom, participants are split into smaller groups for focused discussions. However, Vinyl does not enter these breakout rooms, meaning:

  • Only discussions in the main Zoom room are recorded and transcribed.

  • Conversations inside breakout rooms will not be captured.

  • When participants return to the main room, Vinyl continues recording as usual.
