If you've spotted duplicate contact records in Vinyl, you can clean them up using the Merge Duplicates tool. This helps ensure your contact directory stays accurate and easy to manage.
⚠️ Important:
Only Master Admins can access this tool. Merges are permanent and cannot be undone, so please review matches carefully before proceeding.
Open the Duplicates Tool
Go to the Clients tab
Click on the Duplicates sub-tab
Or go directly via this link: https://app.usevinyl.com/clients#duplicates
Start a Scan
Click Start Scan
The scan may take a few minutes depending on the size of your contact list
Review the Results
Vinyl will display a table of potential duplicate records
Each row shows:
The duplicate contact
The master contact it will be merged into
Carefully review all matches before taking action
Select Which Contacts to Merge
You can:
✅ Select all duplicates (tick the header checkbox), or
✅ Choose individual contacts to merge selectively
Complete the Merge
Click the Merge contacts button at the top
Vinyl will automatically process the merge and clean up your contact list
