Control Your Record Settings

Vinyl gives you the flexibility to decide how and when your meetings are recorded. Whether you want to automatically capture every call or prefer to record only a few, you're in control.

Additionally, Vinyl provides options to manage recordings effectively, such as removing the Vinyl bot from meetings, making meetings private, and adjusting account settings to prevent automatic recordings.

Go to your settings
On the left-hand side of your Vinyl dashboard, click My Settings.

Find your recording preferences
Under the General tab, scroll down until you see the My Information section.

Turn automatic recording on or off

  • Toggle automatic recording off if you want to manually choose which meetings Vinyl joins.

  • Leave it on if you'd like Vinyl to automatically join and record every upcoming meeting from your calendar.

  • Alternatively, avoid connecting a calendar to your Vinyl account. Without a connected calendar, Vinyl will not automatically pick up or record meetings by default. This method is particularly useful for trial accounts but can be applied to any account type.

Your changes are saved automatically.

You can switch this setting any time, giving you full flexibility depending on the week or client.

If you need to pause or stop Vinyl from joining a specific meeting, you can also do that directly from your Schedule tab.

Managing the Vinyl Bot During Meetings

If you want to prevent the Vinyl bot from recording a specific meeting:

  1. Remove the Vinyl bot from the participant list during the meeting. This action will stop the bot from recording.

  2. Alternatively, make the meeting private to ensure only you and the participant have access to the recorded information.

Troubleshooting Recording Issues

If your meeting was not recorded as expected, consider the following:

  1. Check if the Vinyl bot was admitted to the meeting. If the bot remains in the waiting room and isn’t admitted, it cannot start recording.

  2. To ensure your meeting is recorded, review the participant list at the start of the meeting and admit the Vinyl bot if it is waiting. Once admitted, the bot will begin recording as expected.
