Sometimes, you need a moment during a meeting, whether it’s for a private conversation, a quick break, or to go off the record. Vinyl’s Pause feature lets you temporarily stop recording without ending the session.
Here’s how it works:
When to Pause
You might want to pause a meeting when:
Confidential or off-record topics come up
You’re taking a short break
Someone steps away, and you want to keep the transcript clean
Pausing keeps your notes tidy and respectful, no background noise, side chatter, or irrelevant segments captured.
What Happens During a Pause
Vinyl stops recording
No notes, transcription, or AI capture occurs
Timestamps are preserved, so when you resume, everything continues smoothly from where you left off
Think of it as hitting pause on a voice recorder, simple and seamless.
How to Pause and Resume
Tap the Pause button during an active recording.
You’ll see a clear Paused indicator on screen (so you know Vinyl isn’t capturing).
Tap Resume when you're ready to continue.
Everyone on your team will see the same indicator, so it’s clear when Vinyl is paused or live again.
Best Practices
Announce the pause if you're with others: “Let’s go off the record for a second” helps keep things clear.
Don’t forget to resume the meeting when you're back, Vinyl won’t restart on its own.
Keep in mind: anything discussed while paused won’t be saved or transcribed.
Vinyl gives you flexibility without losing context. Pause when needed, and pick up right where you left off.
