If Vinyl appears to still be recording after your meeting has ended — or a session is showing as in progress when it's already finished — try the steps below before contacting support. Most cases can be resolved in under a minute.
Step 1: Check if anyone is still in the meeting
Vinyl stays active as long as participants are present in the meeting. Check your meeting platform (Teams, Zoom, or Google Meet) and confirm that all attendees — including yourself — have left the call. If someone is still in the room, Vinyl will keep recording until the session is empty.
Step 2: Manually remove Vinyl from the meeting
If the meeting room appears empty but Vinyl is still recording, remove the Vinyl bot directly from the call:
Microsoft Teams: Open the participant list, find the Vinyl bot entry, and select Remove from meeting.
Zoom: In the Participants panel, hover over the Vinyl bot and click Remove.
Google Meet: Click the People icon, find the Vinyl bot, and select Remove from call.
Once removed, Vinyl will detect the session has ended and begin processing your recording within a few minutes.
Step 3: Stop the recording from within Vinyl
You can also stop a stuck recording directly in Vinyl. Go to Recordings, find the meeting showing as in progress, and select Stop recording from the options menu. This will manually close the session and trigger processing.
Still stuck? Contact our support team
If the recording is still showing as active after trying the steps above, our support team can close the session on our end. Reach out with the following details:
The meeting title
The date and time the meeting took place
The platform (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet)
We respond within 2 hours. Your recording content is not lost — it's preserved and will be available once the session is closed.
Why does this happen?
In rare cases, the signal that tells Vinyl a meeting has ended doesn't come through as expected — this can occur with certain meeting platforms or network conditions. When this happens, Vinyl continues waiting for the session to close. Following the steps above will resolve it in most cases.
