What is the Recovery section?
When a mobile recording doesn't finish uploading or processing, it appears in the Recovery section of the Vinyl mobile app. From here you can retry the upload and the recording will process normally.
What does "Dismiss" do?
If you tap Dismiss on a recording in Recovery, it is removed from the Recovery list and no longer visible in the app. This is different from permanently deleting a recording β the underlying data may still exist and could be recoverable by the Vinyl support team.
I dismissed a recording by accident β can it be recovered?
In many cases, yes. Because the recording was sitting in Recovery (rather than having been fully deleted), there's a good chance it can still be retrieved by the Vinyl team.
To give us the best chance of recovery, contact support as soon as possible and include:
The meeting title (or a description of the recording)
The date of the recording
The approximate start and end time
Whether it was a mobile recording or an online meeting recording
The sooner you get in touch, the better β older dismissed recordings may be harder to retrieve.
How is this different from deleting a recording?
If you delete a completed recording from your Vinyl account (using the Delete option on the meeting page), that recording cannot be recovered. The Dismiss action in the Recovery section is separate from the Delete action and applies only to recordings that have not yet fully processed.
