Why you can't sign in with Xero on the mobile app
If you signed up for Vinyl using your Xero account, you may notice that the "Sign in with Xero" option isn't available in the Vinyl mobile app. This is due to policies set by Apple (App Store) and Google (Play Store) that restrict certain third-party single sign-on methods within native mobile apps.
This isn't something we're able to change on our end — it's a platform-level restriction. Instead, we've made it easy for you to create a Vinyl email and password so you can log into the mobile app directly.
This is also why "Forgot password" emails don't arrive — if you've only ever signed in via Xero, there's no Vinyl password set yet, so there's nothing to reset.
Step 1: Log in to Vinyl in your browser via Xero
Go to app.usevinyl.com in your web browser.
Click Sign in with Xero.
Use your normal Xero credentials — this will log you into Vinyl.
Step 2: Create your Vinyl credentials in Settings
Once logged in, go to Settings.
Click on Security.
Enter your email address and create a new password.
Save your changes.
This creates a set of Vinyl-specific credentials linked to your existing account — your data, settings, and team access all stay exactly as they are.
Step 3: Log in to the mobile app
Open the Vinyl mobile app.
Enter the email address and password you just set up in Settings → Security.
You're in.
