Your temporary password or invite link has expired

What to do if your Vinyl temporary password, invite link, or password reset code has expired or stopped working.

Why this happens

When you're first invited to Vinyl, or when you request a password reset, you receive a temporary password, an invite link, or a reset code. For security, these expire after a short period. If too much time passes before you use them, they'll no longer work and you'll need a fresh one.

Common signs your link or password has expired:

  • Your temporary password is no longer accepted at login.

  • The invite or "Welcome" link in your email opens an error or a blank page.

  • A password reset code is rejected as invalid or expired.

If your invite or "Welcome" link has expired

Ask your workspace's Master Admin to resend your invitation from their team settings. Once they do, you'll receive a new email with a fresh link. Open it promptly and set your password to complete setup.

If you're the account owner and set up the workspace yourself, contact our support team and we'll reissue your invitation.

If your password reset code isn't working

  1. Request a new reset from the login screen by choosing "Forgot password".

  2. Use the most recent code — older codes stop working once a new one is sent.

  3. Check your spam or junk folder if the email hasn't arrived within a few minutes.

  4. Enter the code promptly, as it expires after a short time.

For more detail on missing reset emails, see "Password reset email not arriving".

If you see an error about no verified email or phone on your account

Occasionally a reset can't be completed because the account doesn't yet have a verified email address or phone number on file. This isn't something you can fix yourself. Please contact our support team and we'll verify your details and get your access restored.

Still stuck?

If you've tried the steps above and still can't log in, reach out to our support team with the email address on your account and a brief description of what you're seeing. We'll help you get back in.
