Why is my Vinyl notetaker joining meetings I marked as "not attending"?

Explains why Vinyl can still join and record a meeting even when your personal auto-record setting is off or you've declined the invite, because recording can be triggered by a teammate's settings.

If you've turned off automatic recording in your own settings, or marked yourself as "not attending" on a calendar invite, but the Vinyl notetaker still joins and records that meeting, this is usually expected behaviour rather than a bug.

Why this happens

Vinyl's recording can be triggered at the team level. If another Vinyl user on your team is also attending the same meeting and has automatic recording turned on in their own settings, Vinyl may still join and record that meeting — even if your personal recording settings are off or you've declined the invite yourself.

How to fix it

  1. Check with any teammates who also attended the meeting and use Vinyl — ask whether their automatic recording is switched on.

  2. Turn off recording for that specific meeting from the Schedule tab, rather than relying on your personal setting alone.

  3. If you'd prefer Vinyl never automatically joins meetings for you, turn off automatic recording under My Settings, then General, then My Information. Note this only controls your own automatic joins — it won't stop a meeting being recorded because of a teammate's settings.
