If you're using Ask Vinyl or waiting on an AI-generated meeting summary, you might occasionally see an error message like this:
Failed after 2 attempts. Last error: Your billing account has exceeded its monthly spending cap. Please go to AI Studio at ai.studio/billing to manage your billing.
What this means
This message is a billing problem, but it isn't related to your Vinyl subscription, your recording hours, or any payment method on your account. It's a temporary limit on the backend AI system that powers features like Ask Vinyl and meeting summaries, it's on our side, not yours.
What to do
You don't need to visit the AI Studio link in the error message, that page isn't linked to your Vinyl account, so there's nothing to manage there.
Just get in touch with our support team through the chat and let us know you've seen this message. We can check on it and lift the limit, usually the same day.
Once it's resolved, simply try the action again (for example, re-running Ask Vinyl or regenerating the summary).
This is unrelated to how many recording hours you've used or which Vinyl plan you're on, you won't need to upgrade your plan or update any payment details to fix it.
