Every meeting you record in Vinyl will produce a summary, this is available as either concise or detailed.
Concise gives you the highlights at a glance. Detailed gives you a complete write up and includes any decisions made and risks identified.
Deciding between Concise or detailed
The summary type that suits you is a personal preference.
Concise benefits those who were in the meeting and already know what happened. They need the discussion points and the action items off the back of the meeting.
Detailed works better for anyone who either wasn't in the meeting or wants a full recap that goes into detail around what was discussed and any risks that surfaced.
Both views are available on all meetings.
Switching a meeting to detailed
Open a meeting from your Recordings list
On the summary, switch from Concise to Detailed
The first time you do this, Vinyl will ask if you would prefer detailed to be your default.
Setting your default summary format
Your default lives in your settings.
On the top right corner of your Vinyl dashboard, click your initials then Settings.
Scroll to 'My Information' > 'Summary Settings' and choose Concise or Detailed as your default summary format.
This applies to your own view of summaries, so everyone on your team can choose a format that suits them.
Editing a detailed summary
If you need to make changes to any part of the summary, you can edit this by:
Clicking the three dots in the top right corner and selecting edit. This will open the summary for editing. Each section will be independently editable.
Hovering over any section gives you an edit option which will also open the edit summary.
Any changes made to the summary are visible to anyone with access to the meeting.
Regenerating a summary
Regenerate asks Vinyl to write the summary again from the transcript. A regenerated summary will replace everything that already exists. This means that any edits you have already made will not be carried over to the new summary.
Unless you have made changes to the transcript speakers, then regenerating a summary shouldn't be required.
Summaries are generated from what was said in the meeting transcript. Vinyl won't fill in gaps or speculate. It is always recommended to review these before sharing with clients or other team members as human oversight for accuracy and framing is always important.
