Vinyl is designed to leave a meeting if there’s no audio activity. Here’s why and how to stop it from happening.
After 15 minutes in a meeting, if there’s no audio detected for 5 minutes, Vinyl assumes the meeting is over and exits to avoid recording empty sessions.
This is especially common when:
A meeting starts late and there’s no conversation for a while
There’s a delay before anyone joins
Everyone joins but stays muted or silent
How to avoid this
To ensure Vinyl stays in the meeting:
Keep some audio going: light chat at the start is enough
Use placeholder audio: some teams play light background music before kicking off
Reschedule your calendar invite if the meeting time changes, so Vinyl knows when to show up
This helps Vinyl know the meeting is active and prevents the bot from leaving early.
