You can delete your Vinyl account whether you use the web app or the mobile app. This article covers both, plus what to do if you can't find the option.
⚠️ Important: Deleting your account permanently removes all of your data (including meeting recordings, transcripts, and notes) from Vinyl's servers. This can't be undone. Your calendar connection is also removed, and the recorder will stop joining meetings.
Delete your account on the web app
Sign in to the account you want to delete at app.usevinyl.com.
Go to Settings → Account & Security.
Select Delete Account and follow the prompts to confirm.
Don't see a Delete Account option on the web? Not every account shows the self-service option. In that case, email us at [email protected] from your account's email address with the subject line "Request to Delete Account", and we'll process it and confirm once your data has been removed. (Note: the web app can't be "updated" like a phone app, so an update won't make the option appear. Just reach out and we'll handle it.)
Delete your account on the mobile app
Open the Vinyl app and make sure you're signed in to the account you want to delete.
Tap your profile icon (top-right).
Go to Account & Security and tap Delete Account.
Confirm by entering your email address.
If you only see Log out, update the app to the latest version and reopen it. If it's still not there, email [email protected] with the subject "Request to Delete Account" and we'll take care of it.
Just want Vinyl to stop recording (without deleting)?
If your main goal is to stop Vinyl from joining meetings (for example while you decide), you don't have to delete your account. Go to Integrations and disconnect your calendar (Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook). Vinyl will stop joining your meetings straight away.
Removing a team member rather than closing your own account?
If you want to remove someone's profile from your workspace (for example a departed team member) rather than delete a whole account, see How to delete a user or web profile in Vinyl.
Deleting a former employee's account
Account deletion applies to the account that's currently signed in, so you'll need to sign in as that person to delete their account. If you're offboarding a team member and can't access their login, contact us and we'll help.
FAQs
What happens to my data after deletion?
All data tied to the account, including recordings, transcripts, and notes, is permanently removed and can't be recovered.
Will the recorder still join meetings after deletion?
No. Once the account is deleted, the recorder stops joining meetings and the calendar connection is removed.
