Whether you're an accountant, team member, or client, getting into Vinyl on your phone only takes a few taps. Here's how to log in, plus what to do if you run into trouble signing in.
Log in to the mobile app
Download the app
Head to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) and search for Vinyl. Download and install the app.
Open the app
Tap the app icon to launch Vinyl.
Enter your email
Use the same email you signed up with on the web. If you're part of a team, use the email your team invited you with.
Check your authenticator app for the verification code
When prompted, open your authenticator app (e.g. Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator), find the 6-digit code for Vinyl, and enter it into the app to complete login.
You'll land on your Vinyl dashboard, where you can view and record meetings, review summaries, and interact with your notes.
Verification code expired or not working
The 6-digit code is time-sensitive. If it's rejected or has expired, wait for your authenticator app to generate a fresh code and enter the new one. If you've moved to a new phone and no longer have your codes, see Transfer your Authenticator App codes to a new phone.
Incorrect email or password
Check that you're using the email address linked to your Vinyl account, and that your password is correct. Passwords are case-sensitive.
If you've forgotten your password, tap Forgot password? on the login screen. When the reset email arrives, open the link in your browser rather than inside the app — this is more reliable and avoids common login conflicts.
For the full reset steps, see Resetting your account on the Vinyl Mobile App.
Seeing a message about an existing signed-in user
If the app shows a message saying there is already a signed-in user, your phone may have a leftover session from a previous login that's blocking a fresh sign-in. This can happen after a password change or if the app wasn't fully closed out before.
The quickest fix is to remove the Vinyl app from your phone and download it again from the App Store or Google Play. This clears the old session and only takes a minute. Your meetings, notes, and account data are all stored in the cloud — nothing is lost when you do this.
Once downloaded, log in with your current email and password.
Reset your password but still can't get in
A few things to check:
Make sure you're using the password you set most recently — if you've requested multiple resets, only the latest link is valid and earlier ones expire.
Complete the reset in a browser, not inside the app.
After resetting, try removing and re-downloading the Vinyl app before signing in again.
Did you sign up with Xero?
If you created your account using Xero, you may not have a Vinyl password set up. In that case, a password reset email won't arrive — because there's no Vinyl password to reset. Xero users authenticate through Xero's system, which bypasses the need for a Vinyl-specific password.
Try tapping Sign in with Xero on the login screen instead. If you'd like to add an email and password to your account so you can log in either way:
Log in to the Vinyl web app using your Xero credentials.
Go to My Settings → Security.
Under the Sign-in Methods section, set up an email and password.
Save your changes.
You can now log in using either your email/password or your Xero credentials.
Still stuck?
Try closing and reopening the app, or log in using an incognito tab at app.usevinyl.com to double-check your account status. If you're still locked out, chat with us below or email our support team with your email address and a brief description of what you're seeing, and we'll get you back in as quickly as we can.
