Vinyl isn't joining my recurring Zoom meetings (same personal Zoom link)

Why Vinyl may only join the first of your recurring Zoom meetings when you reuse the same personal Zoom link, and how to make sure every meeting is captured.

If you use the same Zoom link for all of your meetings — for example, your personal Zoom link (Personal Meeting ID) reused across multiple calendar events — you may find that Vinyl joins and records the first meeting but then stops appearing in later ones. This article explains why that happens and how to make sure every meeting is captured.

Why this happens

Vinyl identifies each meeting by its video link. When several calendar events all use the exact same Zoom link, Vinyl can treat them as the same meeting rather than separate ones. As a result, it may not automatically join the repeat sessions, so those meetings don't show up in your Vinyl account.

Recommended fix: use a unique link for each meeting

The most reliable way to have Vinyl join every meeting is to give each calendar event its own unique Zoom link instead of reusing your personal link:

  • Schedule each meeting in your calendar as a separate event so Zoom generates a unique link for it (rather than reusing your Personal Meeting ID).

  • Make sure the Zoom link is in the Location field of the calendar event, not only in the description. This helps Vinyl detect the meeting.

  • Confirm the event is in the calendar account you connected to Vinyl, and that auto-join is turned on.

With a unique link per event, Vinyl sees each meeting as its own session and will join automatically at the scheduled time.

If you need to reuse the same link

If you prefer to keep using the same Zoom link, you can add Vinyl to each session manually. Auto-join won't work for meetings added this way, so you'll need to do this each time:

  1. Open the Vinyl web app.

  2. Choose Record a meeting.

  3. Paste your Zoom link and give the meeting a name.

  4. Click Start Capturing. Vinyl will join the meeting within a minute or two.
